Crete sees rise in tourism revenues
Many families seem to have opted to visit Crete villas over the past few months, if tourism revenue figures for the Greek island are anything to go by.
According to the Bank of Greece, the popular holiday hot spot's tourism foreign exchange revenues have jumped by ten per cent in the first eight months of 2011, when compared to the same period last year.
In total, €7.718 billion (£6.794 billion) was brought in during this time, which could have been helped by people taking up stays in villas in Crete.
Furthermore, the number of tourism arrivals to the Greek island from January to August 2011 has jumped by 9.9 per cent on last year's figures.
In August alone, Crete welcomed 6.5 per cent more passengers than they achieved in the corresponding month in 2010.
People who seek out holidays in Crete over the winter months can still enjoy their time abroad in mild temperatures which typically creep up to 18 degrees C.
