Crete holidays set to be 'significantly cheaper' in 2010
Families embarking on a Crete villa holiday this year should ignore claims that Greece is becoming more expensive.
This is according to the Daily Telegraph, which said that such assertions are "greatly exaggerated" and that the country is actually "significantly cheaper" this summer.
Crete holidays are expected to be in high demand this summer thanks to the island's "cheap and reliable" buses, with services operating from Chania, Crete's second-largest city, to coastal resorts every 15 minutes.
Indeed, families looking to guarantee a cheap holiday do not have to worry about hiring a car, even if they are located in the hills.
The newspaper also recommends that those staying in a family villa should ask the accommodation owner where the best local market is.
As well as saving money, this will allow holiday makers to have a go at sampling their own Crete cuisine.
Crete is popular among Brits thanks to its 1,000km of coastline, with sandy beaches interspersed with coves, cliffs and peninsulas.
