Crete holidays 'particularly popular with Dutch nationals'
Britons heading on Crete villa holidays this summer may find they meet several Dutch tourists while on the island.
According to the Greek Reporter, new research has revealed Crete is a favourite vacation destination for many Dutch nationals.
The Chamber of Commerce of Rethymno found the island ranks sixth among the top holiday hotspots for people from the Netherlands.
This is despite the number of travellers from the country visiting Crete having fallen over the past three years.
A writer at IWantSun.co.uk recently described how Crete is steadily increasing in popularity with tourists, as it has numerous attractions.
The destination was noted as offering good all-year-round temperatures, as well as plenty of sun, sea and sand for holidaymakers to enjoy.
Meanwhile, those who are more interested in learning about the country's culture than lying on a beach will find there is plenty of Greek history for them to discover in Crete.
