Crete holidays 'can be enjoyed on a shoestring'
The Post Office has highlighted the deals available to families looking to minimise costs on their Crete holiday without losing out on any of the fun.
According to the organisation, Knossos - the largest Bronze Age archaeological site on the island - offers free admission to people under the age of 19, in news that may be of interest to families with young children looking to book a Crete villa.
The majority of heritage attractions all over Greece are either free or operate a lower entry charge for young children, the report notes.
Helen Warburton, head of travel with the organisation, said that the survey highlighted the ease with which travellers can match their budget to their Crete holiday.
"In Greece, for example, we found that the top attractions are completely free on the second Sunday of the month in July and August," she commented.
Families looking to save up for a Crete villa break next February or March may be interested in Rethymno Carnival, which occurs annually during these two months.
