Could smartphones help book a stay in Crete villas?

Many holiday makers are now reaching for their smartphones in order to research different options for their getaway, such as around villas in Crete.

A mobile device travel survey carried out by TripAdvisor has found that 22 per cent of people now use their phones to plan a trip abroad.

For example, 29 per cent of people have topped up their knowledge of accommodation via their smartphones, while 27 per cent use the devices to research a holiday hot spot.

When it comes to deciding where to go when staying in holiday villas, 29 per cent have said that they have studied restaurants in a resort, while 21 per cent use their phone to discover appealing attractions.

"Whether travellers are looking for the nearest attractions or top-rated restaurant, these findings show that smartphones and tablets are an increasingly important travel companion," commented Emma O'Boyle, a spokesperson at TripAdvisor.

There is plenty of fun to be had by snapping up Crete villas this summer, including the entertaining Casa dei Mezzo Music Festival in Makrigialos later this month.
