Chania 'a Crete villa holiday highlight'
According to the Guardian, the location is "one of the prettiest towns in Greece", combining the peaceful, meditative aspect of a Venetian harbour with historic architecture and pristine beaches.
The newspaper's Jane Dunford and Annabelle Thorpe have selected the town as one of their top ten city breaks in the Mediterranean.
A Crete villa holiday incorporating a trip to Chania should introduce travellers to the invigorating combination of seaside fun, heritage and culture, the article asserts.
"Dine on meze at one of the many traditional restaurants that sparkle on the waterfront by night," the writers recommend.
The second largest city in Crete, Chania is situated on the island's north coast and enjoys warm, dry summers.
Landmarks that may be of interest to Crete villa tourists include the Turkish bath on Katre Street and the Dominican Monastery of St Nicholas.
