Brits seeking out Crete villa holidays

Trips to Crete villas are proving popular for holiday makers across the UK, if a new study's findings are to be believed.

WhichBudget.com has researched thousands of searches by Brits since the beginning of 2011, to try and establish the destinations that they are hoping to visit.

Among the locations which garnered the main bulk of interest were Paphos, Dubrovnik, Split, Larnaca and Crete, thus suggesting idea of a trip to the Mediterranean is proving attractive for many people.

Martino Matijevic, chief executive and founder of WhichBudget.com, acknowledged the findings by noting: "This suggests that intrepid travellers are seeking cultural experiences along with their sunshine fix."

Brits who do opt to stay in villas in Crete this summer will have plenty of entertaining events to seek out while enjoying their stay.

These include the Casa dei Mezzo Music Festival in Makrigialos at the end of June, as well as a unique wine festival coming to Rethymnon throughout June and July.
