Holiday makers wondering where to take their next trip this year have been advised of the benefits of booking villas in Crete.
Chris Deliso, author of the Lonely Planet guides to Greece and the Greek Islands, acknowledged that he lived on the biggest island in Greece for a year in the past.
From his experiences, he pointed out that "nowhere else in Greece combines everything the way Crete does".
Some scenes on offer by taking a trip to Crete villas include "sedate traditional villages" and a series of stunning beaches to soak up the sun on.
Mr Deliso added: "Crete boasts not only some of Greece's most important historical and archaeological spots, but also the tastiest and healthiest food."
One location which Jenny Cowley recently recommended Daily Mail readers to visit in Crete was Elounda Bay, due in part to its array of "pretty beaches", as well as the fact that it is just a short boat ride away from the fascinating island of Spinalonga.
