People seeking the perfect family break should look no further than a Crete villa holiday.

Writing for News of the World, Paul Ashton tells of his family holiday to the Greek island, with his wife and two young children.

He states that Crete offers something for everybody, no matter what age.

Whether it was racing down water slides at the local aqua park, splashing in waves at the beach, or discovering the island's history, it was "all ten out of ten".

"The four of us - including wife Ali, Charlie and one-year-old daughter Matilda - were spoilt from start to finish," states Mr Ashton.

He states that the Palace of Knossos, south-east of capital Heraklion, as a "great place to understand Greece's oldest civilisation, the Minoans, and a must-see for history lovers."

The tourist attraction of former leper colony Spinalonga Island can also be visited on a boat tour, he added.

Other activities on the island include swimming, water sports, fishing, diving and snorkeling around the beautiful coastline.

Take a day trip to Chania Town on the west coast, which is regarded as the prettiest village on the island.
