Be entertained at the Chania summer festival
The event is held between July and September each year and sees a variety of dance, theatre and music shows held throughout the town.
According to What's on When, this year's festival will include performances from members of the Odessa State Opera and Ballet Theatre.
There will also be some traditional Cretan dancing for those who like to immerse themselves in the local culture while on holiday.
And budding chess masters will be able to perfect their game during one of the festival's chess evenings.
Chania is located close to the fishing port of Kolymbari at the foot of the Rodopou Penninsula, where holiday makers can rent a Crete villa.
Kolymbari is home to the Odigitrias Gunnies Monastery, a trip to which could be a holiday highlight for those who are interested in Greek history.
