Ancient history 'among top attractions on Crete holiday'
An overwhelming sense of history is likely to engulf those who holiday in Crete, if one expert's opinion is anything to go by.
When asked to identify the top attractions for those who visit the Greek island, Yannis Samatas, writer for explorecrete.com, nominated a series of ancient wonders.
For example, he pointed to the archaeological site at Gortys as an example of one such location in the resort.
Mr Samatas also highlighted the Minoan palaces of Knossos, Malia and Phaistos, all of which could be worth a visit when in Crete.
And for those who enjoy a natural landmark, the stunning beaches at Vai Palm and Gournes Elafonissi are recommended, along with the Diktaion Andron caves.
In conclusion, the expert believes people will never be stuck for something to do while on holiday in Crete, with the island truly offering something for everybody.
Quest Greek Islands recently praised the cuisine on offer in Crete, suggesting it is the healthiest anywhere in the world.
