A Crete villa holiday is 'all about the journey'
An example of the types of thrilling journeys to be had on the island is the one that will take you from your private villa to Xerokampos in the easternmost prefecture of Lasithi, according to Greek Landscapes.com.
The tiny village represents the epitome of isolation and its main attraction is its remoteness, although the golden sands and cool Mediterranean waters are a sight to behold.
On the journey holiday makers will travel through "traditional villages and fertile plateaus filled with traditional windmills" before the road becomes "spectacular" after passing Ziros and it begins its "steep descent from the mountains" toward the town of Xerokampos.
The website says that nearby there is also a small archaeological site close to the beach and holiday makers will be glad of their digital cameras to document a place that is beyond words.
