See the 'colourful' Murcia Spring Festival
The free event kicks off on April 14th and runs for five days as a cast of thousands fill the city with colour and noise, according to Whatsonwhen.
Starting with the Bando de la Huerta - which celebrates rural customs - the Murcia Spring Festival sees the city's squares, parks and gardens "turned into makeshift markets, where ladies and gentlemen in regional dress serve up traditional Murcian dishes".
Bando de la Huerta also sees "colourful floats" pass through Murcia city centre and make their way around the local neighbourhoods.
The festival ends with the bizarre ritual known as the burial of the sardine - which sees locals lament the end of the celebrations by setting a giant paper fish on fire.
Just 20 minutes away from Murcia is the luxurious Mar Menor Golf Resort, which could act as a relaxing sanctuary away from the colourful and noisy celebrations in Murcia.
