Top tips for day trips in Alicante
In an article for the Guardian, travel writer Giles Tremlett listed ten of the best day trips and activities in and around the Spanish city.
He recommended starting the day with a swim in the ocean at one of Alicante's numerous beaches before trekking up to the Castillo de Santa Barbara for excellent views across the Mediterranean.
For a day of exploration, tourists can also take a boat trip to the Island of Tabarca, which is ten miles off the coast from the city. In the evening they can stroll along the palm-lined Explanada by Alicante port.
Mr Tremlett also suggests a visit to the Terra Mitica theme park just a short drive from the city to enjoy some thrilling rides and roller coasters.
A Costa Blanca villa in La Marina could be ideally located for those looking to take the journalist's advice, since it is just 20 minutes south of Alicante airport.
It is also around the same distance from Torreveija, which is home to a number of championship golf courses.
