The "heart-stopping setting" of Calpe

The town was singled out for special praise by the Telegraph this week, with the newspaper enraptured by its breathtaking scenery,

Visitors to Calpe's beach will be greeted by crescent-shaped bay which sits between the town and a dramatic 300 metre-high rock called Penon de Ifach.

"No town on the Costa Blanca has a more heart-stopping setting," gasped the publication.

The rock is the starting point for a number of walkways leading explorers to coves hidden away by meadows and boasting hundreds of wildflowers.

In fact, Calpe boasts not one but two Blue Flag beaches, each lying either side of the Penon de Ifach.

One provides easy access to the bustling resort centre while the other is located close to the restaurant-lined harbour.
