Tarragona offers tradition and history-packed day trip from Costa Blanca villa
People staying in villas on the Costa Blanca may wish to look a few miles north when it comes to selecting an interesting day trip or two to enjoy during their break.
Located further up Spain's east coast, the city of Tarragona is an attractive and historic place to visit, says Karen McCartney, writing a piece for the Daily Telegraph.
"Standing on the Mediterranean Balcony staring out at the vast expanse of blue, it is easy to understand why the Romans chose Tarragona as the capital of their expanding empire in Spain," she details.
The author, who went two decades without travelling to the city prior to a recent trip, notes it has changed very little, with culture and history still very much at its forefront.
One highlight is the Rambla Nova, which locals are said to have dubbed the longest street in the world.
Earlier this week, the same newspaper suggested an offer by the budget airline Monarch was one of its Deals of the Day, with reduced-price flights to Spain said to be available for the coming months.
