Spain 'bargain holiday destination for Brits'
There could be an abundance of holiday makers looking for villas to rent in Spain this year, with the sunny country proving the best value for Brits abroad.
The Post Office's annual Holiday Money Report compared the cost of eight vital holiday purchases to determine which country is the best value for money.
Restaurant meals, toiletries and drinks, among other things, were assessed in 40 different destinations, and the average total cost of the eight items came to less than £38 in Spain.
This compares to an average £60 in Turkey, almost £70 in Egypt and more than £100 in Barbados, although Sri Lanka pips Spain to the post, with its average for the items coming to just £28.
Sarah Munro, head of travel money at the organisation, told the Telegraph: "The cheaper cost of travel and the rising value of the pound [sterling rose this week to an 18-month high against the euro] will make [Spain] a compelling choice for bargain hunters."
