See one of Spain's "most exhilarating" festivals on a Costa Blanca holiday

For many years Tracy Finch has run a popular restaurant in the village of Cocentaina and those renting a villa in the Costa Blanca may find that following her advice is one way to ensure a happy holiday.

She says that Alcoy puts on "one of the most exhilarating festivals in Spain" with the Moors and Christians festival, or Moros y Cristianos in Spanish, according to the Times.

"During this time locals dress up as Moors and Crusaders and through the streets," Ms Finch explains.

Those who wish to visit the festival could elect to stay in the relaxing mountain resort of La Nucia nearby, which is enriched with the perfume of local charm.
