Pick up some medieval shopping on a Costa Blanca villa holiday
Taking place in the last week of June, the Old Quarter hosts a range of period stalls featuring food, drink, clothing and traditional crafts made with techniques dating back hundreds of years.
Tourists can forget the bland T-shirts and postcards of souvenir shops and pick up a vastly more interesting memento of their villa holiday by browsing a selection of ironwork, pottery and glass ornaments.
Demonstrations are often provided so holidaymakers may even find themselves taking a new skill home too.
Interspersing the retail activity are costumed jugglers, musicians, falconers and dancers for a real carnival atmosphere in the sunshine.
To experience the market bustle alongside a more sedate side of Costa Blanca, book a cheap family villa in nearby Quesada, Torrevieja, a new holiday town boasting shops, restaurants, bars and an excellent golf course.
