October festivities: Calpe

Calpa is a typical fishing port on the Costa Blanca where the busiest times of the day linked to the arrival of the fishing boats.

Holidaymakers in the area in October will be keen catch the beer festival that celebrates folklore and German cuisine, but missing this, the end of the month is host to the festival of the Moors and Christians.

The festival has been held in Calpe since 1977, usually in late October and combines religious, historical and popular culture.

Leaving the villa to visit the event is a must and the bands that start the ceremony are followed by a procession to honour the patron saint.

Fireworks and a colourful parade light up the evening that is organised by the Association of Moors and Christians.
