How to enjoy a quiet Costa Blanca holiday

When some people think of a cheap holidays in Costa Blanca, images of over-developed and touristy Benidorm spring to mind.

But this isn't the true picture of the Spanish coastal region, with the 200km stretch of coastline also boasting the quaint towns of Albir and Alteam, holidayhypermarket.co.uk reports.

Both are noted for their beaches, with Albir's having recently received a European Blue Flag for cleanliness.

Visitors can take advantage of one of the many ice cream parlours or try their hand at watersports, while others may wish to explore the towns' impressive backstreets.

The more adventurous of those on Costa Blanca villa holidays can journey into the surrounding countryside, one of the highlights of which is Sierra Helada, or frozen mountain - so named because of the way it reflects the moon during a clear night.

Holiday makers are able to choose from one of two routes up the mountain - the leisurely trail, which take in a number of picnic spots, or the more direct route.

Sun seekers will be keen to sample Costa Blanca's beaches, however, with the region noted for its ability to strike a balance between relaxation and fun.
