Holidays to Spain 'will remain most popular option this year'
A travel industry expert has predicted that holidays to Spain will remain the most popular option among British consumers heading abroad this year.
Ian Bradley, a spokesman for the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), acknowledged that the ongoing strength of the euro is having an effect on people's destination choices.
He revealed that Turkey holidays have seen "very strong growth" in demand this year, but Spain is expected to remain the country of choice for Britons, despite the fact that it is part of the eurozone.
"We know that by the end of the year, Spain will once again be by far the most popular holiday destination for our customers," Mr Bradley said.
The AITO spokesman also pointed out that many companies and tourism operators in the country have cut their prices to offset the effect of the exchange rate, meaning there is still good value on offer.
Families planning to book cheap villas on the Costa Blanca for a holiday to Spain this year can choose from popular destinations such as Denia, Javea and Moraira.
