Holidays to Spain popular throughout this year
There has been an increase in people taking holidays in Spain this year when compared to 2010's statistics.
According to Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket, the country has seen a 9.2 per cent year-on-year rise in tourist numbers between January and September.
Furthermore, Brits look to have taken up a large chunk of the passenger numbers who have sought a getaway in Spain.
Almost a quarter of all tourists to the European nation (24.3 per cent) from January to September 2011 were from the UK, considerably more than German (15.8 per cent) and French (15.4 per cent) holiday makers.
Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket also found that 93 per cent of all tourist arrivals to Spain from the UK visited the country for leisure and a holiday, while 3.9 per cent were there for business reasons.
The research follows on from Sean Tipton, spokesman for ABTA – The Travel Association, recently advising that holidays in Spain are popular for families hoping to gain some winter sun.
