Holidays to Spain 'a good option for activity seekers'
Holidays to Spain, such as Costa Blanca villa breaks, are a popular option among people who enjoy being active when they travel, an industry expert has suggested.
Ian Bradley, a spokesman for the Association of Independent Tour Operators, said France and Spain are among the top countries for consumers planning activity holidays, although destination choices are often based on the pursuits people are interested in.
Mr Bradley also commented on a general trend in the industry towards more active getaways and away from lazy fortnights by the beach.
"People want to do more on their holiday … rather than fly and flop on a beach they want to be active, they want to try something new," he said.
"That could be diving or cooking or just indulging an impression that may be trying a food and wine holiday."
Travellers can rent a Costa Blanca villa to take advantage of some of the activities available along the coast, from sailing and scuba diving to windsurfing and cycling.
Lanzarote holidays are also a popular option for people who want to try watersports.
