Holiday makers 'get Moor' with a Costa Blanca villa
Guadalest boasts one of the most "stunning" positions in the whole of Spain and it is easy to see why the Moors constructed the castle to defend the area, according to Benidorm Spotlight.
The small village boasts a significant history and fabulous views from its elevated position on the top of a soaring mountain of granite.
Even getting to the old village and castle is a little adventure as it is accessed "through a tunnel carved from the rock and when you reach the other end and see the ancient houses, you seem to have been transported to another age".
Villa holiday makers who choose to stay inland in the serene Jalon Valley are just a short drive from Guadalest and the area is untouched by the tourism that invades the coastal areas.
The Jalon Valley offers panoramic mountainous views and is the perfect place to explore Spain's history and get back to nature.
