Have some festival fun in Orihuela during a Costa Blanca villa holiday
Britons planning a Costa Blanca villa holiday in July might be interested in paying a visit to the town of Orihuela in the Alicante province as it hosts a popular annual festival.
The Fiesta de la Reconquista will take place in the week from July 12th to 18th.
Visitors will be able to join in with all sorts of activities and events as local people celebrate the arrival of Christian soldiers in the 13th century and their liberation of Orihuela from the Saracens.
Holiday makers on Costa Blanca villa breaks will be able to visit the town to see a number of parades, which create a vibrant party atmosphere with colour, dancing and music.
If visitors can only make it on one day, it should be July 17th, when a major procession will be held to celebrate Orihuela's patron saints of Justa and Rufina.
On the night before the parade, flaming torches are lit and placed in the ruins of the castle.
People planning a Costa Blanca holiday this summer can stay in a number of popular towns and resorts along the coast, such as Moraira, Denia and Javea.
