Go on a shopping frenzy in Alicante
According to the city's official tourism portal, there are numerous shops and arcades in Alicante offering a wide variety of goods and souvenirs.
Some of the region's specialities include leatherwear and bags, as well as wallets, purses, belts, wickerwork and handmade ceramics.
Tourists will therefore be spoilt for choice when it comes to picking up gifts for friends and family back home.
Food goods are also plentiful in Alicante, with shops selling chocolate, dates, sugared almonds, nougat, canned fish and Spanish wines.
Alicante High Street is the main area for shopping and there is also a traditional market on Monday and Saturday mornings.
For modern boutiques and specialist shops, holiday makers should head to Avenida Maisonnave Avenue and the adjoining streets.
Those eager to splash out in trendy Alicante could rent Costa Blanca villas in La Nucia, which is just 45 minutes away by car.
It is also home to its own weekly flea market for those who fancy a little more retail therapy.
