Explore a Sea of Music on a Costa Blanca villa holiday

Music fans staying in Costa Blanca villas this summer will have the chance to enjoy some live entertainment when a prestigious event returns to the region.

The 2010 Sea of Music festival will take place in various venues around Cartagena, a port city in the Murcia region, from July 9th to 24th.

Founded in 1995, the event has grown into one of Europe's leading celebrations of world music.

Every year, the programme is themed around a different country, with the 2010 season set to feature shows and concerts linked to Colombia.

Holiday makers staying in Costa Blanca villas can arrange a trip to Cartagena to see a number of well-known performers this summer, including Martha Wainwright, who will play at the Parque de Artilleria on July 19th.

Other acts who have been confirmed for the Sea of Music festival include Salif Keita, Melody Gardot, the Kronos Quartet and Toumani Diabate.

Travellers planning holidays to Spain might also be interested in visiting Cartagena to see some of its historic landmarks, such as the Roman amphitheatre and the ruins of the Santa Maria la Vieja cathedral, which was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War.
