Excavation in Costa Blanca city reveals mesmerising finds
People who are fascinated in gaining knowledge about colonies of the past may want to snap up villas in Costa Blanca in the near future.
Archaeologists have carried out excavations around the Avenida Miguel Hernandez region of the Spanish city of Denia.
During the work, the team has been able to unearth an array of interesting sights, which could date as far back as the first century.
Finds include the remains of large harbour venues and warehouses in the Alicante location, as well as a marble gravestone engraved with an epitaph.
The foundations of four homes which could have been used in Roman times were also discovered, with shards of pottery and coins located in these structures.
A series of tombs have also been dug up during the excavation, which are believed to have last been used in either the second or third century.
People visiting Denia during stays in Costa Blanca villas should also check out the city's castillo, a castle which was erected between the 11th and 12th century and offers grand views across the resort.
