Enjoy some of Europe's finest wine at villa on Costa Blanca
A trip to Spain offers a great number of attractions and advantages to travellers, but those staying in villas on the Costa Blanca may be in for a pleasant surprise.
That is because the region's largest city, Alicante, has been identified by one writer as home to some of what is currently Europe's top wine.
John Wilson, penning a piece for the Irish Times on the continent's finest reds, notes Alicante as destination that may be ideal for wine lovers.
He explains some tremendous produce is available in established vineyard hotspots such as Portugal's Algarve, but it is Spain that is currently making waves in the industry.
Mr Wilson says the country is brimming with "gutsy" reds at present, with Alicante named as one of the spots these can be sourced.
It may mean those staying in villas on the Costa Blanca in the coming weeks and months are perfectly positioned to enjoy the drink.
Flybe has recently confirmed it will be offering flights to Alicante as part of its budget schedule for 2011.
