Dinosaur bones found near the Costa Blanca
The remains of the 65 foot plant-eaters are the first discovered in the continent and reports suggest that eight different species have been found amid the 8,000 fossils discovered so far.
Speaking to the Times, Francisco Ortega, co-director of the excavation, said: "This represents a huge leap in our understanding of the Upper Cretaceous (period)."
The remains were found in June when construction was underway on the high-speed rail link between Madrid and Valencia and have been uncovered in Hueco, near the Costa Blanca.
Holidaymakers travelling to the Costa Blanca in the new holiday season may not discover any historical artefacts such as dinosaur bones, but they will have the chance to visit many small coastal towns such a Denia or Javea.
They can experience some of the picturesque beaches and coastline the area has to offer or attend one of the many religious events that occur during Holy Week as the Spanish prepare for Easter.
