Denia: Costa Blanca
The Castle of Denia is located at the top of a hill in the centre of the town.
Having undergone restoration over many years the castle features remains from several historical periods including Muslim porticos and towers and walls from the 14th century.
Visitors will not be undersold if they are looking to experience some Spanish historical culture on the Costa Blanca.
The castle was originally built by the Moors and was then re-built by the French in the early 19th century.
The castle became privately owned towards the end of the 19th century when it was no longer needed for its defensive qualities, instead the terraces around it were used for the production of raisins, which were shipped from Denia all the way to England.
Holidaymakers can get great views of the coast line and surrounding areas form the top of the castle.
Denia is full of history, and it is thought that the area has been inhabited since prehistoric times after Iberian ruins were found on the hillsides nearby.
But holidaymakers can also experience some of the best beaches on the Costa Blanca, with sheltered beaches in the north perfect for the family and the bays in Les Rotes ideal for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
