Costa Blanca villas: Alicante airport opens new terminal
A new terminal in Alicante airport will mean that the travel hub will be able to cope better with the amount of people set to visit Costa Blanca villas this summer.
The additional part of the venue, which helps to serve Spain's east coast and the hotspot of Costa Blanca, opened to the public last week.
It comes as the airport experienced growth of 2.7 per cent in 2010, the exact same figure recorded for the entire fleet of travel hubs in the whole of Spain.
Furthermore, the last decade was mostly positive for the region, as passenger numbers rose by almost 60 per cent during 2000 and 2008, before the travel industry was hit by the recession.
It seems as though Brits are continuing to visit villas in Costa Blanca in their hordes too, with the UK's number of holiday makers going through Alicante five-times larger than any other international country market.
Those who visit the Costa Blanca in 2011 will be treated to around 200 kilometres of Mediterranean coastline, as well as popular resorts like Denia and Gandia.
