Costa Blanca holidays 'great for kids this autumn'

Families looking to take the children away for a break this autumn half term could consider Costa Blanca holidays.

In an article for the Irish Times, travel journalist Sandra O'Connell said this region of Spain has a lot to offer for youngsters at this time of year.

She said a holiday on the Costa Blanca could help youngsters beat the back-to-school blues and give parents some much-needed rest before the hectic Christmas shopping period begins.

Temperatures should still be in the low 20s in October, which means a day or two on the beach is not out of the question.

There are also a number of championship golf courses where stressed-out dads - and mums if they enjoy the sport - can recharge their batteries with a round or two.

Walking is a popular autumn pastime on the Costa Blanca and families will find a number of routes, including some along the cliff tops offering spectacular views.

Of course the Costa Blanca is also home to the Terra Mitica theme park, which is located just outside of Benidorm, so children will be kept well-entertained.

A Spanish villa in Calpe may be a great choice for families in need of some rest and relaxation mixed with a dash of fun.

The popular resort is home to two Blue Flag beaches, a harbour lined with restaurants and a wide variety of shops and bars.
