Costa Blanca 'has plenty of Spanish character'
This is the view of travel writers Barbara Radcliffe Rogers and Stillman Roge, who said that much of this character can be found in Alicante.
In an article for the International Business Times, they described the city's old quarter as "atmospheric".
They also insisted that the same can be said of the beaches close to Alicante, which are popular with many local families.
Holiday makers keen to take in some stunning natural views will find these on the coast in Javea, they added, where "dramatic" caves appear in the cliffs.
Those wishing to experience the Spanish charm of the Costa Blanca for themselves could rent a villa in Calpe, which is close to Javea.
It is also about an hour away from Alicante, which could make a great day trip.
Calpe itself is well known for its Valencian culture, yet still boasts a wide variety of restaurants, shops and modern amenities.
