Cheap holidays in Spain 'popular with Brit families'

The average British child will have enjoyed four vacations by the age of ten, with cheap holidays in Spain being one of the most popular choices.

A Teletext Holidays report revealed that the average ten-year-old in 2012 will have jetted off on four different trips - with Spain being named as one of the top destination.

Kids living 30 years ago could only dream of cheap holidays to Spain, however, as 65 per cent of ten-year-olds living in 1982 had never been abroad in their lives, with 'staycations' at British seaside resorts, caravans and static homes being more popular.

The average child in the 1970s would not have gone abroad until the age of 13, while today's privileged youngsters first travel by plane at an average age of four years and nine months.

Furthermore, few parents now think twice about boarding a plane with a baby who is only a few months old.
