Celebrity spotting from a Costa Blanca villa

The star has been snapped in the region by Hello! magazine this week, as he films new movie Triage alongside Christopher Lee and Paz Vega.

Located about halfway down the Costa Blanca seafront, Alicante represents a potential day out for Brits staying in the region.

As one the oldest cities in Spain, Alicante's beaches, weather and authentic atmosphere may tempt Farrell to revisit the area once he has finished shooting the new film.

Directed by Danis Tanovic - whose No Man's Land was awarded the Academy Award for best foreign language film six years ago - Triage is an adaptation of a novel by Scott Anderson.

Meanwhile, Costa Blanca holidays continue to tempt Brits back to the region as they remember sun-kissed days and warm nights in their villa.

The Telegraph's Ben West has commented that UK residents buying properties abroad are "sill carrying a torch" for the area.
