Book Costa Blanca villa for start of England's World Cup campaign

Football fans who follow the England women's team may be clamouring to secure a villa on the Costa Blanca, after details of the team's involvement in a tournament there emerged.

The Three Lions will contest matches against Holland and Norway in the Spanish resort next month prior to the commencement of the World Cup.

And it is not only the female internationals who are to use the destination for a pre-tournament camp, as the stars of clubs such as Marseille, FC Twente and Anderlecht are due to be in the area too.

La Manga is popular with football teams from across the world, perhaps because of its top facilities, great weather and laid-back style.

Indeed, Liverpool, Sheffield United and Celtic are just three of the 30 clubs who visited in the first quarter of 2010.

Budget airline Jet2.com this week announced it is to run affordable flights to the Costa Blanca next winter.
