Are holidays on the Costa Blanca increasingly popular?

New statistics suggest holidays on the Costa Blanca could be growing in popularity as people from around the world seek a beautiful coastal spot to enjoy a few days in the sun.

The country's travel bosses have revealed a hike in the number of people travelling to Spain for a break, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Some 52.6 million people arrived in the nation from abroad during 2010 – up from the 2009 result of 52.5 million.

A statement by Spain's tourism ministry said: "The forecasts for 2010 showed a fall in tourism, but the sector has beaten the predictions of just six months ago and ended the year with positive figures," adding visitor figures showed their first upturn since 2007.

A holiday on the Costa Blanca may have been the choice of many of those to have arrived in Spain.

Skyscanner recently named the region as one of its bargain destinations at this time of the year.
