Alicante is a 'top destination' for 2009

Flight search engine Skyscanner has revealed that Alicante is one of the top three searched for destination in the whole of the world.

Many of those who choose to go can relax in a luxury villa with a private pool in La Marina, which is just 20 minutes away from Alicante airport and boasts some of the best beaches in the whole of Costa Blanca.

Barry Smith, Skyscanner co-founder, says that despite the tough economic climate, British people do not want to give up their beach holidays.

With the array of beautiful sandy beaches that can be found in Costa Brava, it is no surprise to see it so high up the rankings.

Mr Smith believes that Spain "remains an extremely popular destination for British travellers".

"It is close, warm and still very good value", he adds.
