Alicante 'comes alive' at Easter

Alicante is one of the most searched for Easter holiday destinations, according to flight search engine Skyscanner - and many holiday makers may be looking to rent a villa in nearby La Marina.

La Marina is approximately 20 minutes drive south of the airport at Alicante and boasts some of the best beaches in the whole of Costa Blanca

During Easter, Alicante's streets "come alive with a combination of saeta singing, manolas (women wearing a back comb and mantilla) and brass bands", the site says.

These activities "enhance the visual impact of the embellished floats which sway impressively thanks to the skill of the costaleros (bearers)".

Holiday makers renting a villa in La Marina are also a short drive away from the traditional town of Torreveija and a number of first-class golf courses.
