A Costa Blanca villa 'makes for a sustainable holiday'
Manual Perez Fenoll explained that the town's skyscrapers are the perfect example of environmentally-friendly architecture, reports the Guardian.
"The skyscrapers occupy less space and they save on infrastructure. This means it is more sustainable," he told the publication.
He added that plans for Benidorm's development include the establishment of "a big park".
Renowned for its warm climate, Brit-friendly atmosphere and year-round joie de vivre, Benidorm is a popular destination for those booking a Costa Blanca villa holiday.
And now holiday makers can combine a break in the sun with a pat on the back, if the mayor's words are to be believed.
Alfonso de Esteban, professor of social structure at the University Juan Carlos in Madrid, thinks that the politician's opinion has weight.
He explained to the newspaper that the skyscrapers save on water because they are not attached to gardens.
Some 50 fiestas occur in Benidorm each year, according to Benidorm Spotlight.
