'Grand Mediterranean forest' planned for Costa Blanca
It has been reported that officials at Alicante port are planning on creating a Mediterranean-style forest consisting of 900 trees, with some of them up to eight-metres high.
The green plans will also include sand dunes and "special 12-metre anti-dust screens to stop pollution and carbon dust reaching the city", according to Typically Spanish.
It is believed that the trees will absorb the equivalent of 4,000 cars worth of CO2, to make a Costa Blanca holiday, greener, cleaner and healthier.
Situated just 20 minutes drive south of Alicante is the relatively undiscovered resort of La Marina, which could be one the places to benefit the most from the new forest - and holiday makers can relax by their private pool breathing in the fresh Spanish air.
