Take in Kassiopi Castle on a Corfu villa holiday
In Corfu, tourists get the best of both worlds, with ancient architecture and beautiful sandy beaches.
Perhaps one of the most impressive historical sites on the island is Kassiopi Castle, which families renting villas in the resort can visit easily.
It is not known exactly when the castle was built, but the ruins that are visible today are from the Byzantine era.
They sit on a hilltop overlooking the town and are visible from the harbour, although those who want to take a closer look can climb up to do so.
Families can rent villas in Kassiopi, which is also home to a church devoted to the Virgin Mary, built on top of the former temple of Zeus.
The resort offers a wide selection of bars and restaurants serving international dishes. Holiday makers will also be able to take boat trips from here to other parts of the Corfu coast.
