Museum of Asian Art: Corfu
As well as beautiful beaches and a warm climate, Corfu can offer holiday makers a reason to leave the beach and explore its culture.
The Museum of Asian Art in Corfu was founded in 1927 when 10,500 pieces of art were donated from the collection Gregory Manos.
Since 1974 the museum has become the Museum of Asian Art and has many collections from mid-Asia.
The museum is in the Palace of Saint Michael and Saint George in Corfu Town, which served as the home to the British High Commissioners until they offered the building to the Greek state in 1864.
The ground floor of the museum features the hall of the Ionian Senate and portraits and furniture preserving this piece of Corfu's history can be found.
There are valuable paintings all over the building, with items from China, and Japan as well as exhibits from India and Pakistan.
Some of the highlights include a Samurai suit of armour and some exhibits from the Ming dynasty, so there is plenty of culture to wet the appetite of holiday makers looking for a change in scenery.
