Kouloura harbour, Corfu
The pretty village of Kouloura is one of the most unspoilt spots on Corfu, and comes high on the list for any holiday itinerary to the island.
Some of the island's most spectacular villas are also to be found in the area.
The harbour, while very beautiful and the subject of many a picture postcard, is nevertheless fully functioning, with villagers' fishing boats pulling in and out each day.
The beaches - generally shingle with patches of sand, and grouped around the bay - offer excellent bathing, with many secret coves to explore nearby for intrepid snorkellers.
The magnificent villas which are spread around Kouloura harbour provide holiday homes for some of Europe's richest families, including the Agnellis, who own Fiat and other businesses in Turin, Italy.
Kouloura is rather off the beaten track by Corfiot standards, but is still easily reachable via local roads, making it an easy destination for daytrippers. The neighbouring bays of Kalami and Agni also provide good bathing for holiday makers.
