Celebrate 'union' on a Corfu holiday
On May 21st 1864, the unification of the Ionian Islands with the rest of Greece became official and now every year on that date the whole island celebrates the historic events with resplendent revelry.
Holiday makers renting a villa during that time can join in with the fun and rejoice in their own union on a sun-kissed island of romance.
Corfu reportedly celebrates its own unification with dancing and enormous banquets so those who like food and flinging each other around could be right at home.
Most of the villas in Corfu are found in the authentic and traditional north-east of the island, which could spell extra special celebration for those renting a villa in the region.
Many villas are perched on the mountainside and offer stunning views, as well as private pools.
