St. Cast 1 1hr St Malo Port Time from airport
Saint Cast (le Guildo) is ideally located between the mighty cliffs of the Cap Fréhel, the indomitable Fort Lalatte, and the historical Saint-Malo, and makes a great stopover on the northern coast of Brittany. With the blue-green waters of the Emerald Coast stretching for almost 20 km, and bordered by wooded valleys, this peninsula is a lovely mix of great sandy beaches, secret coves and breathtaking panoramas. Apparently St Cast takes its name from the presence of a chapel dedicated to religeous man called Cast or Cado, who came to preach here. Le Guildo received its name from two Breton words: "GOEZ ledou", which can be translated as "river mouth". The construction of a railway from Paris to nearby Lamballe has helped develop the area, and since 1972, St-Cast joined the little village of Notre-Dame du Guildo nearby to become "Saint-Cast le Guildo".
