Sing along at the Sea Shanty Festival
Between August 7th and August 9th, the pretty port of Paimpol in Cotes-d'Armor welcomes the Sea Shanty Festival - and you could be there.
The festival celebrates sea shanties from the Breton region and around the globe.
"Brittany's long maritime history is evident through this traditional celebration of marine music and hundreds of boats in full finery will welcome visitors over the three days," according to Brittany Tourism.
Discover Brittany reveals that Paimpol will always be associated with its marine past and its fishing fleet in particular.
During the 19th century the fleet endured "dreadful hardships" by sailing all the way to Iceland in search of cod.
The stories are the subject of local folk law and have been captured in the lyrics of Theodore Botrel's song La Paimpolaise - which may even be sung in August.
