Sample scallops in Brittany

For two days in April, tourists can spend their time trying their luck on a fishing a trip or simply sampling some of the gastronomical delights on offer, from a snack to a full-on feast.

There are musical events on in the background to serenade those trying the shellfish, which are considered to be a gourmet item as their creamy flesh is perfect for creating delicate sauces.

The shape of the shell also has symbolic meaning as it appears through history and was used as the mark of the pilgrims on the road to Santiago de Compostela, What's on When reports.

Brittany is known for its stunning beaches and a villa on the coast and resorts such as Carnac and Dinard offer a range of water-based activities for visitors to enjoy.
